Who am I?
I’m Clark, and I’m 22 years old, living in London. I’m currently a university student, studying at King’s College London.
Where did your idea come from?
In my younger years, I grew up in a small town near Newcastle, UK called Ashington. As someone who was not born a Geordie - it was quite difficult at first. I found myself having to adjust to my surroundings to fit in and seem normal. Although this had challenges, I was able to really see how the world worked, especially in terms of human behaviour.
This insight really made sense to me once I joined my sixth form in Newcastle, the city, where I was able to work on myself much more, academically and physically.
This lead to me getting into medical school in 2021, leaving Newcastle behind and moving to London. Although Newcastle is still my home, after all this, I was really able to see all the layers of self-development and what helps people and what doesn’t. One of the things that help is looking at it in a fun way.
When did you think about this idea?
It’s now 2024, three years later, and I’m on a flight back from Barcelona. I was really toying with the idea of gamifying this notion of wanting to work on ourselves, not only in a way that everyone could also share this journey, but in a way where they can work on it for fun, and enjoy it at the same time.
If people can scroll on instagram for hours, could they use the same boost from something more educational?
Where do you want this app to be in the future?
I really want this app to be used universally, by anyone, any age. I want that desire to improve yourself, including the rewiring of habits, negative thoughts, and ambitions to be freely accessible, and not just the knowledge (because that already is). I hope for it to be a commonly used app for even those who don’t have much time in their day but want to work on their minds and themselves to use.
